The amount of plot twists and shocking reveals the author of this book has managed to fit into just four hundred pages is award-worthy. No, seriously, I will be sending over the medical bill for my first ever heart attack, that's how enthralled I was. From beginning until the end, this book was one wild, wild ride.

This book featured a good number of characters, and I can only praise the author with how realistic and layered all of them were. Sure, there were a couple filler side characters here and there, but the vast majority of them had their own ambitions, history, and desires, which led them to making the decisions they'd made. Truly, I'm still not sure who was even the main villain in this story.

Our main characters, Mayah and Zevayr, were especially written to be incredibly complex. Since this book is written from Mayah's first person point of view, I got to see her inner thoughts, understand her decisions, and relate to her on a deeper level, yet she could still catch me off-guard with her actions. One could perhaps even call her an unreliable narrator, whether because she herself doesn't truly always know what's happening, or because she chooses to omit certain information.

Overall, however, Mayah is a pretty relatable FMC, she is stubborn, headstrong, and convinced to always know better, but she also has certain faults and flaws, which aren't only surface-level, they go deep and impact the entire plot. Zevayr, too, I found fascinating as a characterand loveable as a book boyfriend, despite certain moments.

Lastly, and I don't often mention this in my reviews, I LOVED the worldbuilding. Really, I rarely pay close attention to it in fantasy books, but the author managed to make it stand out to me so much, I couldn't not compliment it. The political intrigues, the territory disputes, the differences in climates, they all play a crucial role in the story, and they're explained to the detail.

Napriek tomu, že hlavná hrdinka trpela priam bolestivým "not like other girls" syndrómom, bola kniha záživná. Dej sa odohráva tak ideálne rýchlo, čiže som knihu prečítala za jednu noc.
Jediné, čo by som rada podotkla je, že Xaden niekoľkokrát sám povedal a ujasnil, že sa Violet nemá spoliehať, že je dobrý človek a taktiež jej dal vedieť, že ju pravdepodobne zradí, no ona mala tak či tak tú drzosť sa tváriť prekvapená keď ju zradil???

Povedzme si to takto: Feyre zabije random chlapa v lese a čuduje sa keď sa objavia následky. Jej trestom je presťahovať sa do sveta víl a tam žiť s príťažlivým šľachticom, čomu sa ale vehementne bráni, lebo kto sa postará o jej lenivého otca, mladšiu sestru, ktorá má asi toľko osobnosti ako drevená stolička (a ešte aj to urážam tú stoličku) a Nestu, ktorú som vo všetkých kapitolách, v ktorých sa objavila, mala chuť umlátiť palicou. V magickom svete sa stretáva s bytosťami, ktoré by aj boli desivé, ale Tamlinovo zavrčanie každej druhej vety bolo desivejšie. Prejde si trojčarodejníckym turnajom, lebo je neschopná vylúštiť hádanku, ktorá ani nemôže byť viac klišé, vyhrá podvodom a celá generácia čitateliek má zrazu vlhké sny o prerastenom netopierovi...
