A mountain is a structure of land, usually a consequence of plate tectonics or volcanic origin. Unlike a hill, it is usually higher and steeper. A mountain is characterized by a certain independence. It is synonymous with permanence and immutability. The Himalayas are the most legendary and mystical mountain range in the world. Every year, numerous expeditions set out to explore the "roof of the world" - Mount Everest - at 8850 meters.
In Europe, the Alps are the highest mountains. At 4810 meters, Mont Blanc is the highest peak.128 mountains in the Alps are peaks of four thousand meters.
