Each page is clearly laid out with distinctive features:
- section letters in a large, bold, colourful typeface in upper case and lower case,
- initial letters of headwords highlighted in red,
- alphabet down the side of each page, colour illustrations next to each definition,
- key words highlighted in bold in each example.
The words chosen for this dictionary are those made up of simple sounds and those that will already be familiar to children from their everyday experiences.
