Chambers Study Thesaurus provides thousands of synonyms and antonyms for words and phrases, giving the user many alternative ways to express themselves, with illustrative examples to guide the user to the group of synonyms they want. Labels show the register of words, so that each can be used appropriately and notes are supplied at words that are often confused in their spelling or usage, such as allude and elude, imply and infer, helping the reader to use the right word with confidence.
Throughout the text there are hundreds of hyponym panels. These answer the question ‘What kind of... are there?’ and list the names of, for example, government systems or sciences.
