Maggie Stiefvaterová (1981) žije se svým mužem, dvěma dětmi, dvěma neurotickými psy a jednou nepříčetnou kočkou ve Virginii, a jak sama uvádí, vedou tam divoký život hipíků. Je vášnivou čtenářkou, miluje stará auta (vlastní Camaro z roku 1973), hraje na spoustu nástrojů, mimo jiné na harfu, klavír, flétnu a dudy, kreslí a píše knihy. Literárně debutovala v roce 2008 románem Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception, jeho pokračování vyšlo o rok později pod názvem Ballad: A Gathering of Faerie. Ve stejném roce slavila ohromný úspěch s románem Shiver, který se po několik desítek týdnů držel mezi deseti nejlépe prodávanými knihami žebříčku The New York Times.
